One of our recent student council days was Career Day. We had many careers represented in the school that day, everything from photographers and chefs to construction workers and athletes! It's not hard to guess which sport is a favourite in the grade 3/4 class! :)
One of our cherished annual events at OCS is our Grandparents and Friends Day, where we welcome and celebrate these dear people! Our guests are first of all entertained by each grade during the morning program, then they enjoy some time checking out their grandkids' classrooms, and finally are treated to a tasty homemade lunch! Thank you to our grandparents and grandpals for coming out again this year and also for your generous donation to our new playground and roof - your involvement and commitment to your grandchildren's education at OCS is very much appreciated!
Here at OCS, we recognize that we as God's children are to take care of the beautiful earth He gave us. While there are many ways to celebrate Earth Day, one of the activities for our students this year was planting trees around our school property. Thanks to Copernicus Educational Products for donating these spruce seedlings (they donated 35,000 to schools across Ontario!) and to our students for being such good stewards of this earth!
The last blast of winter weather may have kept the busses from running but it didn't stop science from happening at OCS! The students enjoyed some hands on activities thanks to the Science Quest Workshops hosted by the University of Waterloo.
Today we were treated to a variety of speeches, ranging from "roadboganning" to chocolate to screen time and everything in between! A special welcome to our students in grades 1 through 3 who participated in this event for the first time this year. All students did a great job, and we wish our school representatives all the best as they move onto the public speaking competition in Barrie next week!
No such thing as February blahs at Orangeville Christian School! With our options being held this month, our students have been looking forward to these special afternoons. Some of our students have enjoyed outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding and skating. Enjoy the pictures!
The school was buzzing this afternoon with an assortment of activities happening in various rooms! Thanks to our gracious volunteers and wonderful staff for instructing our kids in these extracurricular options. Below are pictures from Fun with Food, Model Building, Woodworking, Drama and Mad Science. Stay tuned for more pictures to come from skiing and video production!
It's February, which means for Orangeville Christian School students that it's options month! Students choose an activity to participate in for three afternoons in February, where they can learn or sharpen their skills in areas such as cooking, drama, video production, skiing or skating. Thank you to our staff and numerous volunteers for making these out-of-classroom opportunities available to the kids! Below are some pictures of our skating group that went to the Grand Valley arena.
