One of our annual fundraisers is our pie bake, just in time for Thanksgiving! Thanks to the many hands that helped to assemble over 350 apple pies this year. We couldn't have done it without your help!
According to Wikipedia, "Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, peace, compassion , and mercy. Since the middle of the 19th century, it also has come to be used as an English greeting to say goodbye and hello." On Monday, June 27th, 2016, we had the opportunity to celebrate our grade 8 grads and wish them well as they continue their education in high school. May the affection, peace, compassion and mercy of God rest upon you as you depart from OCS and represent Christ in your new schools! Graduates, you have been a wonderful part of Orangeville Christian School and we are so proud of you! Aloha!
This year, our chapels have been focusing on the character and qualities of God. It was quite fitting that our grade 3/4 class, also known as our Wise Owls, were the ones to present on wisdom. It was also timely to send off our graduates not only with the reminder of the wisdom we receive from God but also how we are to make wise decisions in all we do. A special commissioning prayer for our grade 8's, which involved all students, staff and parents present, was a beautiful way to end our last chapel of the year. Blessings to our graduates as they aim to display godly character traits in their future years at high school!
On what was probably the hottest humidex/temperatures of the year so far, the grade 7/8 class joined other schools in Halton Hills for an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. Relief from the heat was had when the winds picked up, but that made for some challenging frisbee throwing! Well done, students - you represented our school very well in both ability and attitude.
Earlier this month, the JK/SK class visited the Aukema's dairy farm. This is always a highlight of the year and the students really enjoyed getting up close and personal with the cows! Thanks to Ed, Teresa, and their son Michael, for being such awesome hosts!
Our Toronto North District Track and Field Meet was held in Orillia once again this year. Congratulations to our grade 3-8 athletes who represented our school in both athletic ability and sportsmanship!
We were blessed with beautiful weather again this year for track and field at OCS! While athletic performance and ability is definitely on display that day (congratulations to our various record-breakers!), it was encouraging to witness students encouraging one another and building relationships on a day like this. Well done, students!
